Julie Abbott – District 6
After studying Speech Communication in the Department of Rhetorical Studies at Syracuse University, Julie worked as a Television Producer, News Anchor, Investigative Journalist, Schools Reporter, and Talk Show Host most notably for Syracuse Affiliate ABC WSYR NewsChannel 9. An avid and dedicated volunteer, Julie has held various roles with the Onondaga County School Safety Task Force, Vera House, Syracuse City Schools Reading Program and the Red House to name a few.
Julie knows first-hand the importance a solid education plays in helping people out of generational poverty and will be a great partner in this effort. She also understands that we need to invest in our infrastructure and protect our national resources, especially Otisco Lake and Skaneateles Lake, to ensure that we have not only safe drinking water, but also responsibly leverage our vast abundance of clean water for real economic opportunity.
Whether its investing in our children or our infrastructure, she believe's we have a responsibility to make decisions based on what is best for the next generation. Onondaga County is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family and Julie looks forward to working with her colleagues in the County Legislature to make it even better.
For the 2024-2025 term, Julie is continuing in her role of Chairperson for the Environmental Protection committee. She also serves on the Ways & Means committee.
