As Chair of the County Facilities Committee, we approve funding for improvements to county roads, buildings, and my favorite, parks! After a year of virtual meetings, I was anxious to undertake some ‘field trips’ so that our committee could check out the progress that our Parks and Facilities teams are making, and get a firsthand look at where the money is being spent. We have been enjoying our ventures and have been very impressed with what we’ve seen!

The August Legislative Session in Onondaga County was, in part, a celebration of the great people our county has who are willing to serve the community. The Legislature also voted to create a $20 million revolving loan fund for the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency to attract and retain new business investments in the area.

As our County Legislature reaches mid-year there is still much to be done for our residents. The County Facilities committee visited Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery this month, and the Health & Human Services Committee toured the Hillbrook Detention Facility, learning about the nearly completed expansion and the new programs being offered to residents.
